COLORADO SPRINGS. Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court No. 2728 in Woodland Park received the Father Bill Carmody Pro-Life Award during the organization’s state workshop June 28-30 at Franciscan Retreat Center. The award is given to the court that is deemed to have done the most for the pro-life cause in the preceeding 12-month period. The court has been involved in a wide variety of pro-life activities over the past year, including:
• Having members participate in the annual Walk for Life sponsored by Life Network.
• Hosting a baby shower at Our Lady of the Woods Parish and St. Peter Chapel in Cripple Creek to benefit the Mater Filius maternity home and Choices pregnancy center. More than $1,300 in donations and 250 baby items were collected and distributed.
• Participating in the fall 40 Days for Life prayer campaign. A group of Catholic Daughters attended Mass at Sacred Heart Parish in Colorado Springs and then prayed for an hour on the sidewalk in front of Planned Parenthood.
• Having members attend the March for Life in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 19.
