Catholic Daughters Court in Security to host state convention in June
By Evelyn Irving
SECURITY. The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Holy Family No. 1794 in Security are celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Colorado State Court.
The Catholic Daughters of the Americas was officially formed June 24, 1903, in New York, and the State Board in Colorado was instituted on May 18, 1925. In order for a state court to be instituted, there must be five local courts with a combined total of at least 200 members. The first court was in Longmont; the second was Court St. Mary’s in Colorado Springs in 1920; and courts followed in Denver (1921), La Junta, Pueblo and Grand Junction (1925).
Court Holy Family in Security is hosting the 2025 State Convention June 6–8 at the Radisson Hotel in Colorado Springs, where ladies from all over the state will meet, exchange ideas and elect new state officers, as well as make many wonderful memories with other Catholic Daughters.
State Chaplain Father Humberto Marquez will celebrate the opening Mass at the hotel on Friday, and Bishop James Golka will celebrate Mass for us on Saturday evening, where he will also be the featured speaker at the convention banquet.
The installation of new state officers will take place on Sunday at St. Dominic Church in Security. Father Ricardo Rosales, pastor of St. Dominic, will concelebrate with Father Marquez for this Mass.
A special memory book honoring all courts in Colorado, active or inactive, has been made to commemorate this 100th Anniversary of the State Court of Colorado.
