Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As Catholic Schools Week approaches, it is worth reflecting on these important words from paragraph 2223 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.  “Parents have the first responsibility for the education of their children.”  The same paragraph goes on to quote Pope St. John Paul II, “Parents should teach their children to subordinate the ‘material and instinctual dimensions to interior and spiritual ones.’”

Inicia al niño en el camino que debe seguir, y ni siquiera en su vejez se apartará de él” (Proverbios 22, 6)

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,

Al acercarse la Semana de las Escuelas Católicas, merece la pena reflexionar sobre estas importantes palabras del párrafo 2223 del Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica.  “Los padres son los primeros responsables de la educación de sus hijos”.  En el mismo párrafo se cita al Papa San Juan Pablo II, “Los padres han de enseñar a los hijos a subordinar las dimensiones ‘materiales e instintivas a las interiores y espirituales’”.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,

A medida que se acerca la Navidad, los días se vuelven más oscuros.  En Tierra Santa hay guerra e ira.  La cultura en la que vivimos parece cada vez más centrada en las cosas materiales del mundo.  Miramos a nuestro alrededor y vemos a los que están física y espiritualmente hambrientos, sedientos, desnudos, enfermos y encarcelados.  Puede parecer que la oscuridad es opresiva.
