Legatus helps business leaders live their faith in the workplace

Apple, Amazon, AT&T, Chase, Comcast, Hewlett-Packard, Ikea, Kroger, Lyft, Macy’s, MasterCard, Microsoft, Nordstrom, Starbucks, Target, Uber, and Walt Disney are among a growing list of companies that pay for their employees to travel for an abortion. The culture of death, which has taken over much of our education system, is firmly implanted in corporate America.  Now, more than ever, we need Catholic leaders to bring the Gospel message to the workplace — this is the mission of Legatus.

Company presidents, CEOs, and other executive leaders from dental, medical, accounting, retail, manufacturing, education, nonprofit, financial management, and high-tech are among the members who, together with their spouses, make up Legatus.

Formed in 1987 by Tom Monaghan, founder of Domino’s Pizza and Ave Maria University, Legatus International now has 90 chapters and over 5,000 members worldwide.  Our Colorado Springs chapter was formed in late 2006 by Bishop Michael Sheridan with inaugural members Mike and Betty Faricy.  Our chapter has since grown to 65 members, including Bishop James Golka, with Msgr. Robert Jaeger as our chaplain.

Our local chapter meets monthly on the first Wednesday, starting with a rosary at 5:20 p.m. at St Mary’s Cathedral.  (Confession is also available).  After Mass, we gather for a cocktail and dinner at the El Paso Club — an excellent opportunity to visit with Catholic friends — followed by a guest speaker.

Over the years, we’ve had some phenomenal speakers, including Dr. Tim Gray of The Augustine Institute, Sister Maris Stella of the Sisters of Life, Father Dave Pivonka of the Wild Goose Ministries, Father Robert Spitzer of the Magis Center, and attorney Martin Nussbaum of Nussbaum Spier Gleason.

“Legatus has deepened my faith and allowed me to build a network of friends who can freely worship together and celebrate being Catholic,” noted Gail Hickert, President of Legatus, Colorado Springs.

“Think of Legatus as an opportunity to grow closer to Jesus, with the bonus of a night out with your spouse — a wonderful combination,” according to Matt Davis, President of Packing Express.
