Catholics recite the Nicene Creed at every Sunday Mass. As we strive to return “ad fontes,” to the [original] sources amid an ever-changing world, we must understand more about our Christian roots, expressed in the Creed we profess.

COLORADO SPRINGS. It’s a busy year for ordinations in the Diocese of Colorado Springs. Not only will Bishop James Golka ordain three men to the priesthood, but 12 permanent deacons and one transitional deacon are on track for ordination this spring.

DENVER. If you have ever had the desire to go on a pilgrimage, to walk the Camino de Santiago, to stand and pray where holy saints and our Blessed Mother have been, or to see a Eucharistic miracle, you are invited to participate in a once-in-a-lifetime pilgrimage of reparation.

"B​​​​​​rothers, select from among you seven reputable men, filled with the Spirit and wisdom, whom we shall appoint to this task . . .” (Acts 6:3)

On May 25, our diocese will be blessed by the ordination of 12 men to the permanent diaconate. These men will join 100 brother deacons serving in our diocese, all of whom are configured in the form of Christ the Servant.  In fact, the word “deacon” comes from a Greek word, “diakonos,” which means “servant.” The Church asks deacons to exercise their ministry of service primarily in three parts:  word, altar and charity.
