March for Life trip was prayerful, joyful event

By Julie Bailey

Joy! That is the main word that comes to mind as I look back on the 2024 Diocesan Youth Pilgrimage to Washington, D.C., for the National March for Life on Jan. 19.

Our group of 32 (19 youth, 13 chaperones) was enormously blessed by the entire experience. Thank you to every one of you who made this pilgrimage possible by your generous support of the Bishop’s Respect Life Fund whether through periodic donations or through your gifts at the Bishop’s Respect Life Roundup.

Am I my brothers’ keeper?” – Genesis 4:9

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

“Am I my brother’s keeper?” There is a temptation to answer this question — asked by Cain after he killed his brother Abel — in the negative. But to answer “no” to that question would be a flawed understanding of this passage in the Book of Genesis.

BLESSINGS IN BLOOM: Container Gardening

By Kerry Peetz

Gardening in containers is an excellent choice for almost every gardener.  Containers can be used in many places — a large patio, or a small patio, a bare spot or a shared spot. Containers are especially great for parishioners with limited space and where traditional gardens are not possible. Those of us who live in apartments or are renting have the perfect solution in container gardening. They also work beautifully in areas that have poor soil or if there aren’t any means to do landscaping and upkeep.

    BLESSINGS IN BLOOM: Amaryllis

“Where flowers bloom so does hope.” — Lady Bird Johnson. If you haven’t experienced the amaryllis, you should, and if you have, you know that its beauty can only be described as spectacular!
