Catholics urged to pray the rosary in October for end to human trafficking

COLORADO SPRINGS. ACT for Freedom Now (AFFN), a Catholic grassroots organization, is encouraging every Catholic group, institution and individual to pray the rosary throughout the month of October to end the form of modern slavery that is human trafficking.

Participants are asked to set a goal for the number of rosaries their family, group or organization will commit to praying, with the following intentions: to end modern slavery; for human trafficking victims and survivors; to build strong, holy families; preserve the purity and innocence of children; end pornography; for the conversion of perpetrators; and all who work to prevent, intervene and rehabilitate survivors and traffickers. Goals should then be sent to AFFN so that the total number of rosaries can be tallied.

For materials such as rosaries, informational brochures, and other items to assist with the rosary campaign, contact AFFN at www.actforfreedomnow.com or send an email to Lichten52@comcast.net.

AFFN also gives presentations to raise awareness of human trafficking. The next presentation will take place at Our Lady of the Woods Parish in Woodland Park on Sept. 11 in the parish center. A light meal will be served at 6:30 p.m., followed by the presentation at 7 p.m. The evening will conclude with the rosary at 8 p.m.

Human trafficking is at epidemic proportions, with sex crimes amounting to 98% of all human trafficking crimes reported (Human Trafficking Institute 2023). Forty-four percent (44%) of human traffickers are family members (Operational Underground Railroad). Human trafficking is invading our families, homes, schools, neighborhoods and destroying the very fabric of our culture and more importantly, our souls.

    FEATURED MOVIE REVIEW: Mary

NEW YORK. The life of the Blessed Mother, from before her birth to the flight into Egypt, is recounted with varying levels of artistic adeptness in the uneven biography “Mary” (UnratedNetflix). Though the result is not always...
