ST. LOUIS, Mo. The USA Central and Southern Province of the Society of Jesus announced that Jesuit Father Joe Laramie, who currently serves as national director of the Apostleship of Prayer, is assigned as director of Sacred Heart Jesuit Retreat House in Sedalia effective Aug. 1.
Father Laramie entered the Society of Jesus in 2000 and was ordained to the priesthood in 2011. He previously taught at two all-boys high schools, served as a college campus minister, and worked in Mayan villages in Belize. In 2020, he was named national director of the Apostleship of Prayer, also known as the Pope’s Prayer Network, which is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Father Laramie is not new to Colorado, as he taught at Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora from 2005-2008. He also led a retreat for priests of the Archdiocese of Denver in 2022. He is the author of two books, “Abide in the Heart of Christ: a 10-Day Personal Retreat with St. Ignatius Loyola,” and “Love Him Ever More: a 9-Day Personal Retreat with the Sacred Heart of Jesus.” He has also been featured on the Hallow app, EWTN and in America magazine.
“I love Colorado and I’m excited to go to Sacred Heart Jesuit Retreat and continue preaching about the Sacred Heart centered in Ignatian Spirituality,” Father Laramie said.
