“Walking with Moms in Need” is a process through which Catholic communities respond to local pregnant and parenting women who need spiritual or emotional support, as well as help accessing material resources.
The Gabriel Project is one of the ways we walk with moms.
A mom having difficulties and not receiving the support she needs from other people in her life can benefit from having a Gabriel angel. An angel LISTENS to a woman – perhaps when everyone else is only telling her what to do and not listening to what she thinks, needs, or wants. Angels receive training and have access to resources in their parish and the Diocese.
We do not seek to replace the community resources currently available to pregnant women. Instead, we hope to connect moms with these resources and walk with them as they access the help they need. We are not primarily about providing financial assistance. We do plan a baby shower in mom’s seventh month to be sure she has the necessities for caring for her newborn. But our focus is on walking with moms and mentoring them, not giving money or diapers.
