Donna Sexton, former Corpus Christi School teacher, dies at age 95

COLORADO SPRINGS. Donna Sexton, a longtime Corpus Christi parishioner and teacher, died March 3 at age 95.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 17 at Corpus Christi.

She was born April 11, 1927, on a farm near Solomon, Kansas, one of five children born to Prosper and Ellen Lahey. Among her siblings was a twin brother, Don.

She attended Marymount Women’s College in Salina, Kansas, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in English and drama. At a graduation party, she met her husband Marvin. They were married in Carmel, California, in December 1951, and Sexton began working as a teacher. The couple moved to Colorado Springs in 1957.

Sexton continued her career in education as a teacher at Corpus Christi School as well as Colorado Springs Day Nursery School 

She was very involved at Corpus Christi Parish as a member of the school board, religious educator, Cub Scout den mother, and Extraordinary Ministery of Holy Communion. She acted and directed in plays and melodramas as well.

Sexton is survived by her husband, Marvin; brother Jim; children Stephen (Leslie) Sexton, Joan (Joe) North, Donald (Bobbi) Sexton, Dianne Sexton, Theresa (Scott) Keane; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
